General Language Training:
Assessment & Evaluation
Assessment combines diagnostic, formative, and summative evaluations to track progress and ensure mastery of each level.
The course follows a communicative and task-based approach, emphasizing real-life language use in personal and professional contexts. It integrates all language skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) while focusing on practical oral communication skills.
Placement Test (prior to starting the course)
Before enrolling, students take an online placement test to determine their appropriate level. This test includes questions and tasks to assess the use of grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension and speaking. In higher levels (B1-B2) a written task will be included.
Formative Assessments (throughout the course)
Each unit includes ongoing assessments to reinforce learning:
- Quizzes & Interactive Exercises
- Speaking Tasks & Role-Plays
- Writing Assignments (depending on the level)
- Listening & Reading Comprehension Tasks
- Cultural Content: songs, videos
Final Test (upon completion of each level: A1, A2, B1, B2)
At the end of each level, students take a comprehensive final test to assess their progress before advancing to the next level.
Passing Criteria: Students must achieve at least 70% overall to pass and receive a digital certificate for each level. Those who do not pass may retake specific sections.

General Information
What is the overall goal behind launching this new service? What is MCIS hoping to achieve with it?
MCIS is launching this language learning service offering to make high-quality language learning more accessible to individuals. We have a partner we are working with, based out of Argentina, and collectively, our goal is to empower learners with practical language skills for personal and professional growth. Earlier this year, we conducted an internal pilot, and by leveraging the participation from our employees in the pilot project, we are ensuring that the training is culturally and linguistically authentic while maintaining a strong focus on learner engagement and effective communication.
Which courses are available?
MCIS’ initial course offerings includes Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and a prep workshop for the TOEFL iBT based on market demand and our internal expertise. As we refine and expand the service, we may introduce additional languages based on interest and feasibility.
Currently, French is not one of the language training courses available. We are working with our partner, however, to assess the demand, and in due time, develop the courses.
What framework do the courses follow?
The course framework is aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for languages, and the CEFR guidelines are followed, categorizing proficiency levels from A1 (beginner) to B2 (upper-intermediate). Each course is designed to help learners progress through these levels, ensuring comprehensive language development.
Who are the tutors? What qualifications do they have?
Tutors are experienced language professionals with expertise in both teaching and linguistic/cultural contexts. Many have bilingual or multilingual backgrounds.
Can I request a bilingual tutor?
Yes, you can indicate your preference during registration, and we will do our best to match you with a bilingual tutor.
How do I register for a course?
You can register directly through our website by completing the registration form. Once submitted, you will be directed to the payment portal to confirm your enrollment.
Why are the group plans more expensive than the individual plans?
Group lessons (for two participants) still require the tutor to plan, prepare, and guide each session with care. The class time, materials, and coordination effort are similar to individual lessons.
However, because the time is shared between two learners, the cost per person is lower than paying for two individual plans. This makes the group option more affordable overall while still providing personalized instruction and the added benefit of learning with a partner.
What payment methods are accepted?
Payments can be made using a credit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
Can I pay in installments or do I need to pay upfront?
Payments are required upfront.
Do you offer refunds if I change my mind or cannot complete the course?
Refunds will only be granted in exceptional circumstances. Please contact us if you cannot complete the course.
How do I know when my classes will be?
Good question! Once you’ve registered for the course, you’ll be sent a link to a booking app where you can choose the schedule that best suits you. Tutor availability can be morning, afternoon, evening and even weekends.
How does scheduling work for group lessons?
For group lessons, both participants share the same class schedule. When registering, the main contact person selects the preferred days and times on behalf of both learners.
We recommend confirming availability with your learning partner before registering, as schedule changes must be made jointly. Our team will do their best to accommodate your preferred times whenever possible.
Course Structure & Delivery
Are the courses instructor-led or asynchronous self-paced?
Currently, the courses are asynchronous self-paced, with weekly live virtual tutor-led sessions. Instructor-led options may be explored in the future to offer more options to learners.
Is it possible to see the curriculum/syllabus before enrolling?
Yes, course syllabi are available on our website. We believe in transparency, and we want potential learners to feel confident that the course content aligns with their learning goals before they commit.
Will I receive a certificate of completion?
Participants who complete the course successfully will receive a certificate of participation.
What is the duration of the courses?
The duration of each course varies depending on the language and the level of proficiency being targeted. Generally, courses are about 12 weeks in duration. Detailed timelines are provided in the curriculum overview.
How much time should I expect to dedicate each week?
Most learners spend 3–5 hours per week, including self-paced study and live tutoring sessions, but this may vary depending on the course level.
Are the tutoring sessions recorded in case I miss one?
Tutoring session are not recorded as they are generally one-on-one and scheduled when the learner can attend; however, we may be able to accommodate the learner
How many learners are typically in a group or session?
Group sessions are limited to a maximum of two participants to ensure personalized attention and effective learning.
Who is the group option best for?
The group plan is ideal for two people who are at a similar language level and want to learn together — such as friends, family members, or colleagues.
It’s a great choice if you enjoy learning through conversation and collaboration, or if you’d like extra motivation and support from a partner while keeping a personalized learning experience.
What types of assignments or practice activities are included?
Assignments include a mix of written exercises, oral practice, listening comprehension, and interactive activities designed to build real-world communication skills.
Can the courses be accessed on mobile devices?
Yes, the courses are designed to be accessible on both desktop and mobile devices, allowing learners the flexibility to study anytime and anywhere.
Do the courses accommodate learners with accessibility needs (e.g., captions, screen reader compatibility)?

Can I pause my course if I need to take a break?
If you need to pause your course, we can defer the end date provided we are notified in advance. For short holidays, learners have the option to make up missed lessons by scheduling two lessons per week either before or after their holiday period to ensure all 12 sessions are completed within the three-month course period
Enrollment & Progression
What are the prerequisites for enrolling in a course?
There are no formal prerequisites for enrolling in the courses. However, learners who have some understanding of the language in which they’d like to take a course, will be asked to take a linguistic assessment to establish at which level they should start.
Are there any free trial or demo sessions available?
Currently, we do not offer free trial or demo sessions. We can provide a detailed overview of the curriculum to help prospective learners make an informed decision.
Can I retake the course if I do not pass the final assessment?
Learners who do not pass the final test on the first try will have a second attempt to pass the course. We encourage learners to review the course material thoroughly before attempting the test again.
Can I switch to a different course level if I find my initial placement too easy or too difficult?
Yes, learners can be reassessed and moved to a more suitable level upon request.
What happens after I complete a course? Are there advanced levels available?
