INTERPRETING 101 (INT101)
Want to know what it is like to become a professional community interpreter? Wonder what ethical dilemmas professional interpreters encounter in sensitive legal and medical settings, and which guiding ethical principles can help you make the best decisions? Are you bilingual, and think you have what it takes to become a professional interpreter?
You can check our free online INT101 course (1-2 hours) and learn the basics. While taking this course won’t make you a professional interpreter, you will be equipped with the basic knowledge of handling various situations interpreters encounter in the field. It’s a great place to start.
INT101 is hosted on MCIS Training platform. You will need to create an account on the platform to access the course.
INT101 is fully asynchronous and can be accessed anytime from anywhere.
We also have a French version of INT101, BINT (Les bases de l’interprétation), which also serves as an orientation to the standards and best practices for novice interpreters, or for qualified interpreters looking to work with MCIS.
Click one of the buttons below to access the course you are interested in. You’ll be taken to the MCIS Training platform. Click “Create new account” or login with existing credentials. Do not use guest login as your progress will not be saved.
Please note that we don’t issue a certificate of completion for these courses as they serve as an introduction to the field.
