Date, Location and Parking

The MCIS Language Solutions, 2018 Annual General Meeting, will take place on:

Thursday, November 1st, 2018
5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
(With a special meet & greet session for our freelance vendors between 4-5pm)

As usual, the location of the MCIS 2018 AGM will be at the Foresters Financial Conference Centre, just to the North of the MCIS office building in the same complex, at:

793 Don Mills Road, North York, ON M3C 1T4

There are limited visitor parking spaces available behind the Foresters Financial building. Alternatively, you can park on the residential streets around the Foresters Financial building. Please note that street parking may require payment until 6:00 pm.

Vendor Management Meet & Greet

Our newly established Vendor Management Department would like to introduce themselves and welcome you to the AGM. The agenda for the event include:

  • – Introduction of the Vendor Management team members
  • – Role of Vendor Management at MCIS
  • – Information and quick updates on upcoming Parent Teacher Meetings 2018
  • – Information on MCIS’ New Critical Illness Benefit by Allstate

We will hear from MCIS’ chair and Toronto mayoral nominee Gautam Nath, executive director Latha Sukumar, MCIS’ financial auditor, say farewell to our departing board members, and welcome the incoming board members to MCIS.

6:00 pm - 6:30 pm - Keynote

AGM Keynote Speaker: Shelley Gilbert, Legal Assistance of Windsor

Shelley Gilbert is a social worker with Legal Assistance of Windsor – Legal Aid Ontario, who works on cases involving human trafficking. She will be speaking about the importance of language access to people facing secondary forms of marginalization, such as gender, racialization, poverty, and immigration status.

6:30 pm - 8:00 pm - Dinner, Awards and Prize Draw

Dinner and Awards ceremony

Enjoy a catered dinner by our neighbouring restaurant – Tea Masters, a superb family-run Korean restaurant situated right inside the Conference Centre.

Browse the “Duct Tape Ribbon” project, created by our Account Manager Nazanin, a visual interpretation of the hardships experienced by victims of domestic violence when attempting to tell their story through language barriers.

We will also recognize and celebrate our best interpreters, translators and facilitators for the 2017-2018 fiscal year.

Prize Draw

At the end of the evening, we will conduct a prize draw using the registration records, and end the evening on a high note.
