Key Enablers of Change

Customized Growth Strategies

MCIS embraced a warm, community-driven way of growing—making decisions from the ground up—which turned out to be way more effective than traditional top-down methods. By doing so, we’ve been able to tap into the incredible talents of our team, sparking new ideas and building a strong, resilient organization together.

Governance Innovation

The adoption of ISO 37000 has truly been a game-changer for MCIS, helping to naturally weave purpose into how we make decisions, structure accountability, and connect with our

Workforce Engagement & Leadership

Social Purpose Implementers & Change Champions

Frontline staff were encouraged to take charge of fostering cultural change by participating in friendly biweekly meetings, engaging in Appreciative Inquiry training, and working together across different teams.

Psychological Safety & Inclusive Language

Tools like the Psychological Safety Framework and the “Words Create Worlds” Glossary helped foster open, inclusive conversations and created a safe space where everyone feels comfortable sharing ideas and innovating together.

Purpose Governance Retreat

In 2024, MCIS organized a retreat that brought everyone closer together and kicked off ongoing conversations about our governance.

Check out the highlights:

Human Capital Development

MCIS redesigned its recruitment and onboarding processes to reflect its social purpose, resulting in a 71% increase in candidates aligned with its values. The organization also plans to implement transparent career progression, purpose-aligned evaluations and mentorship programs.

Governance Reform & Equity

Acknowledging historical governance inequities, MCIS formed a Social Purpose Governance Committee and implemented ISO 37000 policies focused on accountability, sustainability, and stakeholder equity. Future plans include a Language Justice Advisory Council and metrics for beneficiary inclusion.

Measuring Impact

MCIS aligns its impact with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:

  • SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being
