International Translation Day

This event organized by ProZ is two days of pre-conference workshops followed by two days of online sessions, chat, live Q&A, networking sessions and more. The panel theme is “Advocating with Language Access for Social Change” and will be live 12:13 p.m. – 12:53 p.m. EST on 29th September.

The objective of this session is to explore three unique approaches to #languageadvocacy. One is the grassroots advocacy angle, which includes tricks and tips on building a coalition to successfully influence different levels of government and contribute to political platforms and policies. The second one will explore how community agencies and non-profits could become agents of social change by using dedicated funds not only to address the gaps in service but also to learn from them. Finally, the session will explore #Indigenouslanguages‘ revitalization as an advocacy practice, the unique contribution of Museum exhibits, and the significance of connecting the Indigenous plan to all other language advocacy efforts. This session hopes to inform translators about ways to mobilize and move forward equitable #language agenda and inspire them to contribute and connect to their local NGOs and language agencies, Indigenous languages groups and political representatives in their communities who share similar views.
